Jon Hingston is a British Artist, based in New York City, and has been heavily influenced by Tonalists works from all over the world, from the legendary American Tonalists, to the Russian “painters of mood”, to the Australian mood-makers, and of course British atmospheric painters past and present.
“I don’t really think anyone back then (in the 1880s) deliberately tried to paint a specific style or moody genre, I believe its just the temperament of the artist, and the piece of art itself. So many works could be considered Tonalist works from Innes, to Degas, Levitan, Streeton.
